If they haven't been able to isolate the original Corona virus then how do they know what to test for or identify other so called variants? The simple answer is they can't because it doesn't exist. There's a prize of over a million pound for the first scientist to isolate the virus. So until then there's no virus and the will just carry on using the common cold/flu virus.
